The goal of Southwest Pain Management is to allow our patients to be the best they can be even if they have had multiple surgeries, and conditions that result in chronic pain.
Our offices serve Los Angeles through Ventura County and are open 5 days a week to meet your specific needs. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your individual needs and goals.

Meet The Team

Philip J. Morgan, MD.
Dr. Morgan founded Southwest pain management in 1990 and has treated tens of thousands of patients with pain conditions.
Dr. Morgan has been practicing pain management for 29 years. He chose anesthesiology as a specialty specifically to practice pain management.
He completed a residency in Anesthesiology at Harbor-UCLA.
He completed a fellowship at UCLA in pain management as well as a fellowship in orthopedic rehabilitation at the world-renown Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Los Angeles.

Dr. Morgan chose anesthesiology as a specialty with plans to start practice in the then-new sub-specialty of pain management.
Dr. Morgan completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California San Diego and graduated from medical school at the USC School of Medicine. He completed a surgical internship and then went on to work at the renowned Rancho Los Amigos hospital in Los Angeles, completing a fellowship in orthopedic rehabilitation. This consisted of working with a multidisciplinary team to manage complex and difficult long-term management plans for stroke, head, trauma, spinal cord injury, and other conditions associated with chronic pain and disability. He completed his anesthesiology residency at UCLA and then a pain management fellowship at UCLA.
He started Southwest Pain Management after completing his fellowship. Southwest has grown to a practice serving the greater Los Angeles area and Ventura County for 29 years.

Bridgett Lerma, MSN APRN NP-C
Experienced Family Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of California and board-certified by The American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Specialized in pain management.
Highly adept at diagnosing and treating chronic pain conditions with skilled background in the emergency room settings to include Santa Paula, Ojai and Ventura.

Bridgett Lerma, MSN APRN NP-C
Experienced Family Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of California and board-certified by The American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Specialized in pain management.
Highly adept at diagnosing and treating chronic pain conditions with skilled background in the emergency room settings to include Santa Paula, Ojai and Ventura.
Solutions-oriented, caring and works one on one with patients to create individualized comprehensive treatment plans that provide positive outcomes.

Matt Deville, DC, MSPAS, PA-C
Matt is a board-certified physician assistant specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. In addition to being a physician assistant, Matt is also a sports chiropractor with over 15 years’
experience treating local athletes and the South Bay community. Originally from Phoenix, he moved to the area to obtain his undergraduate degree at Loyola Marymount University. After
planting roots in Los Angeles and practicing as a chiropractor, he received his physician assistant education at the University of Pittsburgh. He enjoys being outside as much as possible,
running, swimming, and traveling with his family.
Matt is proficient at diagnosing and treating orthopedic, spinal, and chronic pain conditions. His approach to treatment includes identifying the root cause of pain and addressing the whole body to initiate a successful strategy for each individual patient. His primary goal in practice is
to educate and help patients manage their pain to become more active and healthier. This is achieved by developing evidence-based treatment plans while incorporating sustainable life changes to maximize the body’s innate healing potential.

Misbah Akbar, MSN APRN NP-C
Missy is a board certified nurse practitioner with years of ER and women’s health experience. Originally from Connecticut, she moved to California and completed her masters degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is well versed in diagnosing and treating chronic pain conditions with the goal of improving health, wellness, and quality of life.

Misbah Akbar, MSN APRN NP-C
Missy is a board certified nurse practitioner with years of ER and women’s health experience. Originally from Connecticut, she moved to California and completed her masters degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is well versed in diagnosing and treating chronic pain conditions with the goal of improving health, wellness, and quality of life. Missy is on the Board of Directors at the Heart Touch Project, a nonprofit organization in Santa Monica and volunteers weekly at a local garden. She is proficient in trigger point injections and developing individualized treatment plans with her patients.
